The short, on-snow camp we had a couple weeks back in Nakiska was bittersweet. We went straight into huge volume in rough conditions for the first two days and I ended up tweaking my back pretty badly. Bad enough that I skipped a day of skiing and took it easy for the next two. On the plus side I did get to free ski Super G on a private mountain for my last day which was simply awesome and made me remember just how fun and pure the sport really is!
I’ve been taking full advantage of the down time in between the seasons for the last 10 days. Taking it easy, hanging out with friends in Ottawa, spent some time in Tremblant/Morin Heights with Mari. Basically making sure I’m fully rested and ready to attack the dryland season.
Early next week I head out to Tahoe with Ryan Malmberg (who you’ll know if you’re in the Ottawa ski community) to visit one of our best friends, who goes to school there. Then on up to Calgary on the 15th for dryland testing. I’ll be living in Calgary this summer for the Team’s centralized training program which is based at the Calgary Olympic Park there.
