After the Beaver Creek GS (crashed out in the first run) Louis, Ben, and I hightailed it to the Denver airport for a 9pm flight to Calgary. After arriving in Calgary at 12, we drove up to Lake Louise, arriving around 2:30am. I finally got to bed around 3am.
I opted to skip inspection in the morning in favour of some much needed extra sleep. I did get to slip the course quickly, so with that plus running the course a week ago I figured I could get things done. And that’s what I did! I won the first DH training run of my career, even with a pretty major tactical error. I’m feeling great on my skis and looking forward to ripping again tomorrow!
Oh and if you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when nearly the whole World Cup speed circuit is traveling on the same day, wonder no more.
